Judah and Israel were many, as the sand which is by the sea in multitude, eating and drinking, and making merry. And Solomon reigned over all kingdoms from the river unto the land of the Philistines, and unto the border of Egypt: they brought presents, and served Solomon all the days of his life. (1 Kings 4:20-21)

My original note was on verse 21, prophecy fulfilled? While perusing to cut and paste the verse, I grabbed verse 20 as well, pondering over if that was a fulfillment of prophecy, or still yet to be recognized.

Father stated the following:

Gen 22:17 That in blessing I will bless thee, and in multiplying I will multiply thy seed as the stars of the heaven, and as the sand which is upon the sea shore; and thy seed shall possess the gate of his enemies;

So did Israel accomplish this during the reign of Solomon or was this spoken of as an ongoing, never ending position?

Gen 32:12 And thou saidst, I will surely do thee good, and make thy seed as the sand of the sea, which cannot be numbered for multitude.

Jer 33:22 As the host of heaven cannot be numbered, neither the sand of the sea measured: so will I multiply the seed of David my servant, and the Levites that minister unto me.

Physical Israel, the church? Both?

Hos 1:10 Yet the number of the children of Israel shall be as the sand of the sea, which cannot be measured nor numbered; and it shall come to pass, that in the place where it was said unto them, Ye are not my people, there it shall be said unto them, Ye are the sons of the living God.

Children of Israel...physical descendants of Abraham.

Rom 9:27 Esaias also crieth concerning Israel, Though the number of the children of Israel be as the sand of the sea, a remnant shall be saved:

Physical Israel?  I have posed quite a few questions.  Definitely a topic to study further.  :-D

For he was wiser than all men; than Ethan the Ezrahite, and Heman, and Chalcol, and Darda, the sons of Mahol: and his fame was in all nations round about. (1 Kings 4:31)

Who were those men?  Solomon was wiser than Ethan, Heman, Darda, and Mahol.

Ethan - H387 - The same as H386; permanent; Ethan, the name of four Israelites.
  • H386 - From an unused root (meaning to continue); permanence; hence (concretely) permanent; specifically a chieftain.
Ethan the Ezrahite wrote Psalm 89.

Heman - H1968 - Probably from H530; faithful; Heman, the name of at least two Israelites.
  • H530 - Feminine of H529; literally firmness; figuratively security; moral fidelity.
  • H529 - From H539; established, that is, (figuratively) trusty; also (abstractly) trustworthiness.
  • H539 - A primitive root; properly to build up or support; to foster as a parent or nurse; figuratively to render (or be) firm or faithful, to trust or believe, to be permanent or quiet; morally to be true or certain; once (in Isa_30:21; by interchange for H541) to go to the right hand.
Chalcol - H3633 - From H3557; sustenance; Calcol, an Israelite.
  • H3557 - A primitive root; properly to keep in; hence to measure; figuratively to maintain (in various senses).
Darda - H1862 - Apparently from H1858 and H1843; pearl of knowledge; Darda, an Israelite.
  • H1858 - Apparently from the same as H1865; properly a pearl (from its sheen as rapidly turned); by analogy pearl stone, that is, mother of pearl or alabaster.
  • H1865 - From an unused root (meaning to move rapidly); freedom; hence spontaneity of outflow, and so clear.
  • H1843 - From H3045; knowledge.
  • H3045 - A primitive root; to know (properly to ascertain by seeing); used in a great variety of senses, figuratively, literally, euphemistically and inferentially (including observation, care, recognition; and causatively instruction, designation, punishment, etc.).
And then onward to Proverbs...blessings upon blessings.
