If they sin against thee, (for there is no man that sinneth not,) and thou be angry with them, and deliver them to the enemy, so that they carry them away captives unto the land of the enemy, far or near;  (1 Kings 8:46)

This reminds me of a few other verses:

As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:   (Romans 3:10)

If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.  (1 John 1:8)

But will God in very deed dwell with men on the earth? behold, heaven and the heaven of heavens cannot contain thee; how much less this house which I have built!  (2 Chronicles 6:18)

Which made me think of these verses:

Thus saith the LORD, The heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool: where is the house that ye build unto me? and where is the place of my rest?  (Isaiah 66:1)

Nor by the earth; for it is his footstool: neither by Jerusalem; for it is the city of the great King.  (Matthew 5:35)

Heaven is my throne, and earth is my footstool: what house will ye build me? saith the Lord: or what is the place of my rest?  (Acts 7:49)

That he may incline our hearts unto him, to walk in all his ways, and to keep his commandments, and his statutes, and his judgments, which he commanded our fathers.  (1 Kings 8:58)

He incline the hearts? What, we can not incline our hearts? Why not?

The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?  (Jeremiah 17:9)

There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God.  (Romans 3:11)

According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love:  Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will, To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved. In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace; Wherein he hath abounded toward us in all wisdom and prudence; Having made known unto us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure which he hath purposed in himself:  That in the dispensation of the fulness of times he might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth; even in him: In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will: That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ.  (Ephesians 1:4-12)

If you are so inclined to study the topic, if not already persuaded that HE chooses, here are a couple of links to get you started:

(Note I have not fully browsed and/or read the articles in their entirety, be a Berean.)

From the Household of Faith - lists the 5 points of Calvinism.  (Personally, I prefer the doctrine of election).

A couple of articles on the doctrine of election:  Wayne Grudem, John MacArthurJohn Piper and Lorraine Boettner.

Notes on Supralapsarianism & Infralapsarianism - take your life vest, this one appears to be quite deep.  :-D

Supralapsarianism

Infralapsarianism

Another one on both - Albatrus

Okay, I have spent all my money on those $20 words...the best solution for wrestling through the doctrine of election? Pray and ask Father to reveal HIS plan, will in the matter and then read the BOOK, specifically looking for the words which indicate chose, choose, chosen, predestinated, etc.

May Father richly bless as we partake of His eternal Word.
