Day 74 -

Moses speaks to the people (Deut 32:1-47)

Moses goes to Mt. Nebo - (Numbers 27:12-14, Deut 32:48-52)

Final word to the tribes - (Deut 33:1-29) I had to read this passage several times - in different Bibles (I am using the Reese Chronological Bible for the daily reading - but then read the same passage in the Complete Word Study Old Testament and just searched E-Sword) and could not find Simeon listed. I am just hitting a few of the items mentioned.

Here is the blessing of the tribes:

Reuben (see a son) - {1 verse} live and not die, let not his men be few;

Judah (celebrated) - {1 verse} heard by the Lord, hands sufficient, help him from his enemies;

Levi (attached) - {4 verses} teach the people, bless the Lord;

Benjamin (son of right hand) - {1 verse} beloved of the Lord, dwell in safety;

Joseph (let him add) - {5 verses} blessed by the Lord, precious things, mentions Ephraim (double fruit) and Manasseh (causing to forget);

Zebulun (habitation) and Issachar (he will bring a reward) - {2 verses together} rejoice in Zebulun's going out and Issachar in his tents; call the people, offer sacrifices of righteousness; suck the the abundance of the seas and treasures hid in the sand;

Gad (a crowd) - {2 verses} blessed who enlarges Gad, dwells as a lion, portion with the law giver, executes justice of the Lord;

Dan (judge) - {1 verse} lion's whelp;

Naphtali (my wrestling) - {1 verse} satisfied with favor, full of blessing of the Lord, possess west and south;

Asher (happy) - {2 verses} blessed with children, acceptable to his brethren, dip foot in oil, shoes of brass/iron, days strengthened.

I counted all of these - several times - and read and re-read - I do not see Simeon. Moses did not bless that tribe. Why?

All I could dredge from memory was that Simeon was an instigator (Levi participated too) in attacking the town where his sister Dinah was raped. Simeoon was the one who Joseph kept in prison until his younger brother was brought to Egypt. I still think I have missed something major - what it is I do not know. Soooo...if anyone has thoughts, ideas, please share.
