Days 225 - 227

Hananiah's false prophecy - those exiled will return - Jeremiah 28:1-16 (false prophet speaks peace, when God had placed nations under the yoke of Babylon. He raises up and puts down rulers.)

His death - Jeremiah 28:17 (false prophet's death fulfilled - dangerous to speak against the most High God - Lord let us all take warning.)

Jeremiah and Zedekiah take trip to Babylon - Jeremiah 51:59 - (interesting, I never noticed this before.)

Ezekiel's prophecies (in Babylon) prior to fall of Jerusalem - 593 B.C.

His preparation and commission - introduction - Ezekiel 1:1

Vision of the heavenlies - Ezekiel 1:2-28

Filled with the Spirit - Ezekiel 2:1

His commission; prophet to the craftsmen in Babylon - Ezekiel 2:3-10; 3:1-9 (this is where Ezekiel 'eats' the roll, sweet to the taste, bitter to the stomach.)

His commission as a watchman - Ezekiel 3:10-21 (this passage has always impacted me...especially as there was a situation to which I knew Father wanted me to speak and I, being a new believer, was hesitant to do and tried to have someone else speak for me...bad choice...and the person to whom I was to speak died...and I will always remember that lesson and bear the repercussions. If Father gives you something to speak to someone, regardless of how difficult it is...if you have faithfully prayed and sought HIM, HIS counsel and if necessary, counsel of others, do not hesitate to speak. Ever.)

His second vision of the heavenlies - introduction - Ezekiel 3:22-23

Filled with the Spirit again - Ezekiel 3:24-27 (again...Thank you Lord, that You filled us with Your Spirit at our new birth...that by Your sovereign grace and mercy we have an inborn, resident teacher who speaks all of You.)

Sign of the tile (siege) - Ezekiel 4:1-17

Sign of the sharp knife (famine, pestilence, sword) - Ezekiel 5:1-17

Judgment for idolatry - Ezekiel 6:1-7

Remnant to be spared - Ezekiel 6:8-10

Desolation to come - Ezekiel 6:11-14

The city judged - Ezekiel 7:1-27

Jehovah justified in sending his people into captivity - visions of Jerusalem's abominations - Ezekiel 8:1-18; 9:1-11

Departure of the Lord from the temple - Ezekiel 10:1-22; 11:1-25

I have always wondered at the phrase 'snatch you up by your hair' and if it came from Ezekiel 8:3 "...and he took me up by a lock of mine head;..." - in addition, there are numerous references to the north in this passage, which reminded me of a previous reading where the north was explicitly absent....take heed Body of Christ what is done in 'secret' is not so to the One who sees all, knows all, is all.

Which brings to mind the passage:
2Pe 3:17 Ye therefore, beloved, seeing ye know these things before, beware lest ye also, being led away with the error of the wicked, fall from your own stedfastness.

Are we as the Bereans? Acts 17:11 - searching the Scriptures daily? That we might be able to prove all things? Be aware and cognizant of false teachers?

O' Lord, create within Your body a desire to spend time with You and Your Word. Enfuse Your people with a passion for reading, studying and knowing You more intimately through Your Word. Help us, Your people to boldly speak forth Your Word to a lost and dying generation, but specifically to exhort and encourage our fellow brethren to a deeper and more meaningful relationship with You.
