*~*~*~*~*~
Having dealt with the word dross yesterday...the word scum stood out in today's reading:

Eze 24:11 Then set it empty upon the coals thereof, that the brass of it may be hot, and may burn, and that the filthiness of it may be molten in it, that the scum of it may be consumed.

And as anyone who has ever cooked knows...a pot with stuff in it that burns on is n-a-s-t-y. No doubt about it...and with nasty stuff on top of it...yuck!

Scum - From H2456; properly disease; hence rust: - scum. H2456 - A primitive root (compare H2470); to be sick: - be diseased. H2470 - A primitive root (compare H2342, H2490); properly to be rubbed or worn; hence (figuratively) to be weak, sick, afflicted; or (causatively) to grieve, make sick; also to stroke (in flattering), entreat:

Okay, that is far down the rabbit trail as I am going today...suffice to say disease...sin...wickedness...how caked on is our sin? So much so, that we do not see and or recognize it? O Lord, please help us to see ourselves as YOU do...to recognize, repent, release and replace with Your Word. Help us to daily desire to be washed in Your Word.

Death of Ezekiel's wife...sad...and he is told NOT to mourn...we recently had a wonderful saint pass along home...and the tears shed were not for her, but for those left behind...though her husbands testimony of her continues to be awesome and his rejoicing in her final destination a delight to hear and see and know. This is what was at the forefront of my mind while reading about Ezekiel and his loss...his confidence was in the Lord and HIS provision...though bereft of his beloved, he could know that she was with the Lord. I am making a very LARGE assumption here that she was one of HIS chosen...if I am incorrect, my humble apologies.

Which reminds me of the verse that states it is better to go into the house of mourning...it brings man (and woman) smack up into the reality of their eternal destination. Where are you spending eternity? How do you know that you are? How is your life a reflection of that change wrought by the supernatural GRACE of a loving and merciful God?
