David:
Gathers might men at cave of Adullam
Psalm 142
Organizes mighty men
Psalm 141
David flees to Moab
Psalm 64
Doeg the Edomite Slays Priests at Nob - contrary to scripture there must be 2 witnesses and Saul accepts the testimony of only one and an Edomite at that! The footmen of Saul refused to slay the priests and showed great courage in standing to the Word of the Lord.
Psalm 35
David in Keilah
Psalm 52
Psalm 109
Psalm 140
Psalm 31
David in Ziph still sought by Saul
Psalm 13
David's last meeting with Jonathan - steadfast friends...Jonathan remained David's friend even at risk of death by his father. Thank the Lord for those who stand with you and walk the valley's and mountaintops.
David's betrayal by the Ziphites
David escapes to wilderness of Maon
Psalm 54
David goes to Engedi
Psalm 17
David's rise in popularity and his mercy to Saul at Engedi - a wonderful example of submission to headship. Even though David knew the Lord had anointed him to be king, he would not raise his hand against his king. Nor accept the pressure from his men to take Saul down.
Psalm 57
Psalm 108
Death of Samuel
David with Nabal and Abigail - a woman of good understanding (who can find a virtuous woman?) and a beautiful countenance. She radiated beauty - which can be from the outside, but must, in reality, come from the inside to be proper beauty. She lived with an unsaved, ungodly, son of Belial. God was with her, giving her comfort, understanding and strength. Only God can help us when in situations with people who are opposed to righteousness. Do we reflect the qualities Abigail exhibited? Do we deal with them prudently? My heart prays for those who are unequally yoked...for strength, wisdom and perseverance in and through the tough times. That those unsaved would not cause undo vexation to the saved.
David and his wives - marries Abigail (#2)
Status of other wives (Ahinoam) - Michal given to Phalti - this is direct violation of the Word...not to multiply wives. I have always had a hard time understanding why a man would want more than 1 wife.
Betrayed again by Ziphites, spares Saul again - goes into the camp and takes Saul's spear and cruse of water. Demonstrating once again, though given the opportunity to slay Saul, he refrains.
Lord may we all submit willingly to Your headship, desiring to give a proper estimate of who You are in all that we say, do and think. Lord, let the words of our mouths, the meditation of our minds and our actions give an accurate account You.
