Day 116
Decisive victories - Joab victorious over Ammonite-Syrian Forces - 2 Samuel 10:1-14; 1 Chronicles 19:1-15
David victorious over Syrian forces - 2 Samuel 10:15-19; 1 Chronicles 19:16-19
Psalm 20 - The Lord hear thee in the day of trouble; the name of the God of Jacob defend thee;...we sing this psalm in worship...it is so encouraging and uplifting.
David's sin and its consequences - David and Bathsheba - Adultery committed; Uriah killed - 2 Samuel 11:1-27
I am pondering why David was not out at war, which is where he was supposed to be...why Bathsheba was bathing in viewable sight...why she did not resist when David made known his desire to lay with her. David, a man after God's own heart...lusting after someone else's wife.
Jas 1:15 Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.
Then reflecting...where have I been which was not in accordance with the will of God? Doing or saying something in viewable sight, which does not honor our Lord. Not resisting evil.
What consequences is the Bride of Christ inviting upon herself by not keeping herself unspotted from the world? Is there anything that we say or do, while claiming kinship with the King of Kings and Lord of Lords which causes HIS name to be blasphemed?
Lord, help us to walk uprightly before You in all that we say, do and think. Father, help Your bride to give a proper estimate of who You are in all that we are...in every season, situation and circumstance.
