Dross - Recent conversation about dross made this an item of interest. Dross = impurities. We all have them. Will have until the day we are called and/or taken home (depending upon your eschatology).
Eze 22:18 Son of man, the house of Israel is to me become dross: all they are brass, and tin, and iron, and lead, in the midst of the furnace; they are even the dross of silver.
Eze 22:19 Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Because ye are all become dross, behold, therefore I will gather you into the midst of Jerusalem.
Dross is in the Word 8x in 7 verses - H5509 - From H5472 in the sense of refuse; scoria: - dross. H5472 - A primitive root; properly to flinch, that is, (by implication) to go back, literally (to retreat) or figuratively (to apostatize).
This reminded me of an email which circulated about a Bible study and the verse was:
Pro 25:4 Take away the dross from the silver, and there shall come forth a vessel for the finer.
Supposedly one went to a silversmith to find out how silver is refined. The raw material (us) must be put into the fire (trials, tribulations and testings), where the smith (God) continually keeps HIS eye on us(*), repeatedly skimming off dross (purging the impurities) until the reflection of the Master is seen (going home).
I found this site: truthintheword.wordpress.com/2010/03/07/...for-the-silversmith/
I have not vetted the site, it happened to have an article which fit ... do not flame me if it is not biblically lined up...be discerning in all that you read, avail yourselves.
I liked a link they had...about being washed in the Word...daily. This fits with Acts 17:11, '...they searched the scriptures daily...' Daily...not once a week...not Sunday and Wednesday. Daily. Every day...how diligent is the Bride to 'study to show herself approved, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed?'
If you are being diligent to study, does Father want you to encourage someone else to do the same? To be in a Bible study? To start one? To mentor someone? To seek a mentor?
We can not reflect the Master if we do not continually, habitually, with due diligence look into the mirror of HIS Word. How much clearer is the image of our Father in our lives today than from whence we began?
