Solomon's Backsliding - Heart Turned Away By Heathen Wives - 1 Kings 11:1-13

*~*~* This passage bothers me...Solomon started so well...asking God for only wisdom, not riches or honor, or the life of his enemies...and finishes poorly. The Bride of Christ started so well...and while there have been many faithful men (and women) throughout her history...the "church" is so tarnished and tainted that it is sometimes impossible to differentiate between her and the world.

She has, as Solomon did, become enamored with the ways of the world...in an attempt to be relevant and 'draw' people in...she has become a harlot in her demeanor and doctrine. The Bride is made up of people...which means we have those same tendencies...to be complacent...allowing idols in our lives.

I know Father's will is always accomplished, perfectly, in each and every person...but sometimes wonder if Solomon had been diligent to meditate on the Word daily, writing it (as instructed) if his outcome could have been different. How seriously do we, as the Bride, take the examples given to us and prayerfully seek to not follow in the sins of those recorded in HIS word?

O' Father, You are gracious, merciful and good...always...You only allow that in our lives which will cleanse and purify us. Father, cleanse the Bride...purge the sin, idolatry and wickedness that infuses her, wash her fresh Father. Open our eyes and ears to see and hear You and Your word, help us to make our calling and election sure.

May Father richly bless you as you study to show yourselves approved, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed. Blessings ~ Melissa

1Pe 4:17 For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God?

1Pe 4:18 And if the righteous scarcely be saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear?
