Reading today's passage, all I could think about was how the current 'international' community is putting pressure on Israel to NOT build. The names change, but the faces (attitudes) stay the same. Always an attack from the nations to control Israel, God's chosen people.

Ezra 4:5 - "...hired counselors against them, to frustrate their purpose..." - hired attorneys, filed lawsuits. If you can not get them to stop voluntarily, bog them down in legal wranglings.

Ezra 4:13 & 14 - "...damage the revenue of the kings. Now because we have maintenance from the king's palace..." They were on the public dole...and if you do not keep getting $ from those Hebrews, we might not get as much. Does this sound like our nation? Those who are on the public dole and NOT working by choice, want a socialist type society so they can continue in their lifestyle.

Those bringing accusation against Israel - they are a bad and rebellious city, they won't pay their fair share, the king's existing empire will be threatened.

* - The people are reproached for NOT building - though they were 'following' orders from the current 'master' over them. Hmmm...if we are to be about our Father's business that will sometimes put us in opposition to the PTB (powers that be).

** - The first temple...Solomon's...and Herod built a beautiful temple as well...and a third temple to be built sometime. None of which can compare with the original. The Tabernacle was designed from the blueprint of Heaven's Temple. Think about how wondrous our Father's palace must be. The glory and magnitude. Beauty and radiance contained therein and surrounding. The Celestial City of our God. Does your heart beat with the rhythm of heaven? Our eternal home...where our Lord and Savior has gone to prepare a place for us, that He might receive us unto Himself.
