Day 122
What a place to break...right in the middle of David's heartfelt outpouring to God in the Psalms...
Psalm 27 - v8 When thou saidst, Seek ye my face; my heart said unto thee, Thy face, Lord, will I seek.
v14 Wait on the Lord: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the Lord.
Psalm 69 - v5 O God, thou knowest my foolishness; and my sins are not hid from thee.
Psalm 120 - v2 Deliver my soul, O Lord, from lying lips, and from a deceitful tongue.
Psalm 121 - v7 The Lord shall preserve thee from all evil: he shall preserve thy soul.
Battle of Mt. Ephraim - 2 Samuel 18:1-8
Slaying of Absalom by Joab - 2 Samuel 18:9-18 - this passage indicates that Absalom had no sons, but in 2 Samuel 14:27 it states he had 3 sons...did this mean that they died and therefore he had no offspring to carry his name forward? He decided to erect a pillar...not directed by God...and as he was not the chosen one to carry forth the lineage of our Savior he gets nothing.
News brought to David - 2 Samuel 18:19-33 - and David laments over his son, who behaved wickedly and caused the nation to pursue after the anointed king...while this was God's judgment, it still shows the wickedness of Absalom.
Psalm 10 - v6 He hath said in his heart, I shall not be moved: for I shall never be in adversity.
Father's plans will not be thwarted...we will reap what we sow, just as David did, but even in HIS correction there is still great mercy. Those who persecute the children of the King, never repenting of their evil, will be judged according to HIS justice. May we, as the Word tells us:
Luk 6:28 Bless them that curse you, and pray for them which despitefully use you.
Mat 5:43-48 Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy. But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust. For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same? And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more than others? do not even the publicans so? Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.
