Thinking of himself?
Better is a poor and a wise child than an old and foolish king, who will no more be admonished. (Ecclesiastes 4:13)
It just dawned on me...no prophet came to admonish Solomon. He multiplied wives, horses and chariots contrary to the Word. His heart was turned away by his heathen wives, yet no prophet or seer came and spoke to him. At least none that were recorded. Why not?

House of mourning?
Ecc 7:4 The heart of the wise is in the house of mourning; but the heart of fools is in the house of mirth.
Current music?
Ecc 7:5 It is better to hear the rebuke of the wise, than for a man to hear the song of fools.
Ecc 8:11 Because sentence against an evil work is not executed speedily, therefore the heart of the sons of men is fully set in them to do evil.
Lord, help us Your people to be wise in all our dealings, to be open and receptive to rebuke however You choose it to be given, to execute Your judgment in matters of justice. Lord, cause us to yearn to know You deeply and intimately.
