I made a note: How oft do I have the same fear? Looking at circumstances versus the POWER of God to sustain me where HE sends.
I vaguely remember someone stating that an Amalekite is a type, represented by our sin nature. So a-searching went I. My first stop - The Nations of the Bible - Amalekites. This had some awesome perspectives that I had never considered, especially regarding Mordecai and his refusal to bow to Haman.
I found this site, and am sharing it because it has a reference to the Amalekites, but also the rock which Moses was to strike only once. I found note #8 interesting as it echoes the exhortation recently received in our 1st Peter Bible Study. Quit focusing on self, focus on Christ Jesus.
Moving on to the other nations mentioned: Hittites, Jebusites, Amorites and Canaanites. This site listed the nations God said he would drive out in Joshua 3:10 and how they can be perceived as representative in our walk this side of glory.
He equates the nations as compared these traits:
Hittites - fear, worry or fretfulness.
Jebusites - threshed (beaten and bruised).
Amorites - vicious talkers (the worlds movies, books, television is full of lustful and suggestive material).
Canaanites - lovers of money, merchants, commercialism, consumerism (my interpretation on the last one).
Father's continual and unwavering devotion, care and concern for HIS children still amazes me. He is always reminding me of HIS provision and protection of me, even when the valleys are deep and the mountains steep.
Beloved, know that if you are HIS child, you are never, ever, ever out of HIS protective grace. EVEN when the trials and tribulations of this world 'appear' as if they would crush the very life out of you. I like the words of Corrie Ten Boom:
"There is no pit so deep that the presence of God is not there with us."
