B. Time spent at Sinai (sometimes called Horeb) ~ cont.
16. Moses enters Tabernacle and hears God's voice - Numbers 7:89
17. Ministry of the sons of Aaron described - Numbers 3:1-3; Leviticus 7:35-36
18. Consecration of Aaron - Leviticus 8:1-36
19. Ministry of priests begin - Leviticus 9:1-24
20. Strange fire of Nadab and Abihu causes death - Leviticus 10:1-7; Numbers 3:4
And when Moses was gone into the tabernacle of the congregation to speak with him, then he heard the voice of one speaking unto him from off the ark of testimony from between the two cheubims: and he spake unto him. (Numbers 7:89)
How well do I hear the voice of the Lord?
Hear - H8085 - A primitive root; to hear intelligently (often with implication of attention, obedience, etc.; causatively to tell, etc.).
Wow...H8085 used 1158 times in 1072 verses. That is a whole lot of hearing. First used in Genesis 3:8:
And they heard the voice of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God amongst the trees of the garden.
Last usage, Malachi 3:16:
Then they that feared the LORD spake often to one to another: and the LORD hearkened, and heard it, and a book of remembrance was written before him for them that feared the LORD, and that thought upon his name.
I was searching for a verse that I had vaguely in my mind...and thought it interesting that 3 verses in Hebrews all mention hearing, with the admonition to NOT harden the heart.
Heb 3:7 Wherefore (as the Holy Ghost saith, To day if ye will hear his voice,
Heb 3:8 Harden not your hearts, as in the provocation, in the day of temptation in the wilderness:
Heb 3:15 While it is said, To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts, as in the provocation.

JFB on Numbers 7:89:
And when Moses was gone into the tabernacle of the congregation to speak with him — As a king gives private audience to his minister, so special license was granted to Moses, who, though not a priest, was admitted into the sanctuary to receive instructions from his heavenly King as occasion demanded.
then he heard the voice of one speaking to him — Though standing on the outer side of the veil, he could distinctly hear it, and the mention of this circumstance is important as the fulfilment, at the dedication of the tabernacle, of a special promise made by the Lord Christ Himself, the Angel of the Covenant, commanding its erection (Exo_25:22). It was the reward of Moses’ zeal and obedience; and, in like manner, to all who love Him and keep His commandments He will manifest Himself (Joh_14:21).
Joh 14:21 He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.
