HALF WAY! WHOO HOOO! We are half way through our chronological reading through the Bible! If you have not started - jump in!

Judah - Vision of Future Kingdom Centered in Jerusalem - Isaiah 4:1-6

Parable of Jehovah's Vineyard - Isaiah 5:1-7

Six woes upon Israel (the divided Israel or Israel as a whole?) - Isaiah 5:8-30

1. "Woe to those that join house to house and field to field..." - hmmm...sounds like most of our cities - too closely populated.

2. "Woe unto them that rise up early in the morning that they may follow strong drink..." drunkards, I think this would include those who use substances other than alcohol to 'deaden' their minds.

3. "Woe unto them that draw iniquity with cords of vanity..." I do not quite get this one (verses 18-19)

4. "Woe unto them that call evil good and good evil; that put darkness for light and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter." - This sounds like our current world.

5. "Woe unto them that are wise in their own eyes, and prudent in their own sight!" Hmm...sounds like lots of politicians, though not explicit contained to that species of humans!

6. "Woe unto them that are might to drink wine, and men of strength to mingle strong drink:" Second warning...take heed!

Micah declares God's displeasure with Israel - Micah 1:1-16; 2:1-13

Jotham becomes mighty - 2 Chronicles 27:3-6

Birth of Hezekiah

Ahaz began dual reign with Jotham

Rezin joins Pekah in attack on Judah - 2 Kings 15:37

Death of Jotham - 2 Kings 15:36-38; 2 Chronicles 27:7, 9

Ahaz - VERY BAD - 2 Kings 16:1-4; 2 Chronicles 28:1-4

Pekah's successful victory over some of Judah - 2 Chronicles 28:5-8 (both kingdoms)

Virgin's son is hope for future - Isaiah 7:10-16; 9:-7

Ahhh...our future hope...is Christ Jesus. His birth, death, resurrection and redemption of HIS people. Hallelujah! Thank you Father for Your sovereign choice of people...help us to not be haughty or puffed up, but humble. Help us Lord to speak forth Your words to a lost and dying world, spreading the seed of Your word to all that we come into contact with...knowing that Your will in the lives of those who are given the gospel message will be manifested...some to eternal life and others to eternal damnation.
