*~*~*~*I had this all formatted in a table...but this forum does not allow that structure to remain. I have attempted to "color" code the Northern Kingdom in brown. I also tried to attach the file, whether it will work or not, I do not know. Sorry!

The Divided Kingdom from Solomon to the Fall of Israel 945-721 B.C*

Northern Kingdom - 10 Tribes
Southern Kingdom - 2 Tribes

Harassed by both Judah and Syria (48 years)
Judah Prospers Despite Wars With Israel (78 years)

Jeroboam I - 22 years (BAD) - Revolt of the Tribes - 2 Chronicles 10:1-19
Rehoboam - 17 years (mostly bad) - Wrong Advice Causes Revolt of the 10 Tribes - 1 Kings 12:1-19

Becomes King of Israel - 1 Kings 12:20
Becomes King of Judah - 1 Kings 14:21; 2 Chronicles 12:13

Led People Into Idolatry - 1 Kings 12:25-33; 2 Chronicles 11:15
Warned Not to Fight Israel - 1 Kings 12:21-24; 2 Chronicles 11:1-4

I find it interesting that Jeroboam I sets up 2 golden calves and tells the people these are the gods which brought you up from the land of Egypt.

After all the history they had....they took this hook, line and sinker. How different are we? We have such a testimony of how the early church operated, what the apostles did and taught, yet the ‘church’ is caught up in apostasy. Lukewarmness. **sigh**

* This is using the Reese Chronological Bible dating system. There are several sites which have a different date for the division of Israel (note this is the 3rd time they have divided). I have listed a couple for review.

This one has numerous maps...their estimation is 931 B.C. for the division of the Kingdom.

I could not find a date on this one:

NOTE: I have not perused these sites...remember to be a Berean! :cheer:

The test of a true prophet...their word comes to pass. The prophet prophesies of Josiah to be born of the lineage of David and that Josiah will burn mens bones on the altar of evil that Jeroboam is offering. He also prophesies that the altar will rend and the ashes pour out and it does.

The Judean prophet is instructed to return home a different way and w/out partaking of any bread or water...a true prophet...yet...he is lied to by a prophet from Bethel and pays with his life for his disobedience to the Lord.

What has the Lord told me to or not to do...and I have not obeyed? Not paying with my life...but suffering consequences for my rebellion and/or sin. How can I know how to obey HIM, if I do not immerse myself in HIS word?

"If you are not spending time daily in the word of God, you are wasting your time." We have time for so much...how much do we spend with the one who died to give us eternity with Him?
