Day 186-11

Above it stood the seraphims: each one had six wings; with twain he covered his face, and with twain he covered his feet, and with twain he did fly.  (Isaiah 6:2)

Seraphims, I know I have looked at this previously, but obviously did not retain the information.  Gathered from the passage:  6 wings, 1 set each to cover the face and feet...that has significance...and 1 set to fly.

Did they fly with feet and face covered?  Starting here:

seraphims - H8314 - From H8313; burning, that is, (figuratively) poisonous (serpent); specifically a saraph or symbolical creature (from their copper color).
  • H8313 - A primitive root; to be (causatively set) on fire.
Used 7 times in 7 verses, interesting, sharing:

And the LORD sent fiery serpents among the people, and they bit the people; and much people of Israel died.  (Numbers 21:6)

And the LORD said unto Moses, Make thee a fiery serpent, and set it upon a pole: and it shall come to pass, that every one that is bitten, when he looketh upon it, shall live.  (Isaiah 21:8)

Who led thee through that great and terrible wilderness, wherein were fiery serpents, and scorpions, and drought, where there was no water; who brought thee forth water out of the rock of flint; (Deuteronomy 8:15)

Then flew one of the seraphims unto me, having a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with the tongs from off the altar: (Isaiah 6:6)

Rejoice not thou, whole Palestina, because the rod of him that smote thee is broken: for out of the serpent's root shall come forth a cockatrice, and his fruit shall be a fiery flying serpent. (Isaiah 14:29)

The burden of the beasts of the south: into the land of trouble and anguish, from whence come the young and old lion, the viper and fiery flying serpent, they will carry their riches upon the shoulders of young asses, and their treasures upon the bunches of camels, to a people that shall not profit them. (Isaiah 30:6)

Rabbit trailing...came across a site that suggested that seraphim are referenced in Revelation 4:6-8, I am leaning toward not the same.  Found this site, which gave a brief overview of the 3 types of angels mentioned in Scripture, they did not classify the Revelation beings as being the same as the Isaiah beings.

This site corrected me on my word usage regarding Seraphim and Cherubim, perhaps not in the category of angel, but definitely spiritual beings.

But yet in it shall be a tenth, and it shall return, and shall be eaten: as a teil tree, and as an oak (H437), whose substance is in them, when they cast their leaves: so the holy seed shall be the substance thereof.  (Isaiah 6:13)

I know I have looked at teil tree before...obviously did not retain the information.  :-D

teil - H424 - Feminine of H352; an oak or other strong tree.

  • H352 - From the same as H193; properly strength; hence anything strong; specifically a chief (politically); also a ram (from his strength); a pilaster (as a strong support); an oak or other strong tree.
Used 13 times in 12 verses.  Spoken of as an oak in Genesis 35:4, Judges 6:11, 19; 2 Samuel 18:9, 10, 14; 1 Kings 13:14; 1 Chronicles 10:12; Isaiah 1:30; Ezekiel 6:13 and as an elm in Hosea 4:13.

Searching online for teil tree and came across this article by C.H.Spurgeon, have not finished reading it yet, but an interesting perspective thus far.
