More form Jeremiah - obedience of the Rechabites - Jeremiah 35:1-19

Sign of the wine cup of fury - Jeremiah 25:15-38

70 years of captivity - 606-536 B.C.

586-516 - is also considered by some as the 70 year captivity period (time w/out a temple)

Jerusalem's 20 year siege begins - Daniel 1:1

1st deportation includes Daniel, future prophet to the rich in Babylon - Daniel 1:2-3

Nebuchadnezzar goes to Jerusalem, hurries home because of Father's death - 605 B.C.

Nebucchadnezzar reigns as King of Babylon - 605-562 B.C.

Prophecies as siege begins - eventual captivity - Jeremiah 25:1-7

Babylon's conquests - Jeremiah 25:8-11

Sayings to be written - Jeremiah 36:1-8

Prophecy to Baruch - Jeremiah 45:1-5

Egyptians attempting to reap Assyrian spoils, defeated by Babylon at Carchemish - Jeremiah 46:1-12

Nebuchadnezzar increases border by conquests - 2 Kings 24:7

Daniel does not compromise - Daniel 1:4-20

[Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael and Azariah - Many years ago a friend mentioned that everyone remembers the Babylonian names for three of the Hebrews taking into captivity, but rarely their Israelite names. Why is that? Daniel appears to keep his name throughout scripture, yet Hananiah, Mishael and Azariah shift from being called by their given names, unto the pagan names. I have always wondered if this was an indicator of some compromise on their part. I hesitate to state this because they were so fervent in standing up to the king and NOT bowing to the image of gold, willing to suffer death in a fiery furnace rather than compromise their allegiance to the one true God.

Daniel = H1840 from H1835 (judge) and H410; (strength) judge of God; Daniel or Danijel;
Belteshazzar - H1095 - of foreign derivation (not much help from the dictionary on that one!);

Hananiah - H2608 From H2603 (bend) and H3050; (Jah, the sacred name) Jah has favored; Chananjah;
Shadrack - H7714 - of foreign derivation;

Mishael - H4332 From H4310 (who?) and H410 (strength) with the abbreviation inceptively relative (see H834) interposed; who (is) what God (is)?; Mishael,
Meshach - H4335 Borrowed from H4336; ((Chaldee); of foreign origin and doubtful signification), the Meshak (heh, borrowed no less);

Azariah - H5838 From H5826 (A primitive root; to surround, that is, protect or aid) and H3050; Jah has helped; Azarjah;
Abednego - H5664 The same as H5665; ((Chaldee); of foreign origin; Abed-Nego, the name of Azariah Abed-Nego).]

Urijah martyred - Jeremiah 26:20-24 - Think about this...Urijah prophesied against the city - same as Jeremiah, yet God, in HIS providence allowed Urijah (jah, the sacred name) him to be martyred. Father allows what HE wants...when HE wants and how HE wants. All to HIS glory!

Jeremiah laments Jehoiakim - Jeremiah 22:13-19

Jeremiah and Bauch proclaim a fast - Jeremiah 36:9

Nebuchadnezzar's dream and Daniel's interpretation - Daniel 2:1-49 (and we thought we had some tough jobs! Can you imagine the pressure? I wonder, did Daniel end up saving the necks of those who would eventually persecute and try to have him killed off?)

Word of God read, destroyed, then restored - Jeremiah 36:10-32

Jeremiah's message continues - Jeremiah 13:1-27

The drought - Jeremiah 14:1-22; 15:1-21

Days 208-214 ~ 2010

Days 208-214

7 days since my last posting - 7 = completeness, spiritual, perfection.

Someone needs to crack the whip on me...I am not being as diligent to post...how is everyone doing on their reading? Are you sharing with someone else? Have someone else to keep you accountable? Being transformed as you ponder the beauty of our Father's Word?

Amon (2 years - VERY BAD) - uggghhh - an evil life - 2 Kings 21:19-22, 2 Chronicles 33:21-23

Slain by servants - 2 Kings 21:25-26; 2 Chronicles 33:24

Josiah (31 Years - VERY GOOD) - 2 Kings 21:24; 2 Chronicles 33:25 - the people who conspired against Amon (a BAD king) received their punishment by being slain. This reminds me of how David dealt with those who 'thought' they were doing 'right' by either saying they had slain someone (Saul) or had actually done the deed. His high standard of righteousness demanded justice and he had no problem performing it. How high is our standard for ensuring that our Father's Word is rightly divided and that we are being diligent students of the Word?

Began reign at age 8 - 2 Chronicles 34:1-2; 2 Kings 22:1-2; 2 Kings 23:25

Judgments on Nineveh predicted - God's righteous displeasure - Nahum 1:1-15; 2:1-13 (lest we be proud in our arrogance and deceit as a nation (USA), it would behoove us to remember that Father judges nations this side of glory. How evil and wicked has our nation become? How close to judgment stand we?

Nineveh's terrible destruction - Nahum 3:1-19

Birth of Jehoiakim - 2 Kings 23:36 - King at 25

Josiah's early reformations - 2 Chronicles 34:3-7

Birth of Jehoahaz (2 Kings 23:31) - King at 23

Birth of Daniel - 628 B.C. - WHOO HOO! Daniel the companion book to the Revelation!

Jeremiah's ministry begins - his call and early vision - Jeremiah 1:1-19

His first message to backsliding Judah - Jeremiah 2:1-37; 3:1-5

Assyria weakened by Scythian invasion, begins decline - 626 B.C.

Judah's fall to Babylon imminent - 635-586 B.C.

Babylon declares independence from Assyria - 625 B.C. as Nabopolassar reigns - 625-605 B.C.

Zephaniah's prophecies to Judah and Israel - coming judgment to Judah - Zephaniah 1:1-18; 2:1-3

Judgment against the nations - Zephaniah 2:4-15; 3:1-13

Restoration of Israel and Jerusalem - Zephaniah 3:14-20

Josiah repairs temple - 2 Kings 22:3-7; 2 Chronicles 34:8-13 - I find it interesting that they went to Huldah, a prophetess {H2468, from 2467 a weasel; from 2465 - From an unused root apparently meaning to glide swiftly; life (as a fleeting portion of time); hence the world (as transient)} and once Josiah heard the words and understood he RENT his clothes. How fervent are we when Father reveals a TRUTH of HIS Word to us? Oh, Lord, forgive us for our lack of fervency to Your Word, to take it in, to meditate upon it and worse, that we proclaim it not before the peoples. Lord, help us to have a fervency of spirit, soul and body to read, understand and proclaim Your truth to those who are perishing.

Finds the BOOK of the LAW - 2 Kings 22:8-20; 2 Chronicles 34:14-28

Reads the LAW - 2 Kings 23:1-3; 2 Chronicles 34:29-32

Jeremiah's second message - devastation from the North - Jeremiah 3:6-25; 4:1-31; 5:1-31; 6:1-30 - I find the NORTH interesting here, as there was a recent passage that spoke of the Lord and specifically mentioned all compass directions (East, South, West) - but NOT north (Psalm 75:6) - hmmm that is one which needs more meditation.

The Passover kept - NOTE not easter (the name of a pagan fertility goddess) - 2 Kings 23:21-27; 2 Chronicles 35:1-19

Josiah's further reformations - 2 Kings 23:4-24; 2 Chronicles 34:33
