Feminism is a Fraud

America is built on a foundation of principles that are everlasting: God and His righteous Laws, rights that are endowed to us by God, not by man, and a framework of government that is based on those two truths.

Through those foundations, a great nation was born. Every brick laid to raise this great land above the crumbling efforts of other government systems, was once mortared with a common understanding and agreement of the basic founding principles. This meant acknowledgement of the truth of Good vs Evil, and that the strength of a uniquely free society is found within the individual  hand-built walls of personal freedom and responsibility that are forged by strong families with unwavering commitment to God.

Since feminism was mottled together out of a deep disdain for God’s perfectly created order for men and women, it fueled the desire to rebel against the foundations of family. Therefore, the erosive movement was able to gain intense momentum as it was paired perfectly with a societal shift. Our nation became less concerned with foundations, more influenced by European Marxism, and sought out the Babylonian cry for feminism among women, and later brought along men, who all reject God.  Suddenly, the use of the once sacred mortar of our foundations of God, Constitution and iron-clad families of strength, were abandoned to pursue anti-godly endeavors and selfishly built altars of sin.

Three Bad Ideas for Women & What to Do About Them

Few book titles have had the sticking power of Richard Weaver’s Ideas Have Consequences. Even people who have never read it find the blunt title instantly compelling. Weaver’s thesis was that the ideas that we absorb about the world, about the way things are or should be, inevitably direct our actions. Though the book was published in 1948, before many current bizarre ideas had fully emerged, the thesis is an eternal one. It sets people to wondering which ideas were the seeds that sprouted our present mess and which new ideas might be helping us out of it—or further in.

Ideas about the nature of life combine in a framework that can go by many names; the word paradigm, popular a decade ago, has through overuse become almost as irritating a schad. Some call this framework a worldview, mindset, outlook, ideology, cognitive framework, or reality grid; a New Testament term is phronema. Whichever term you choose, it means that mental assumptions link together and result in actions—ideas have consequences.

A few decades ago some people got a bad idea. Or perhaps the bad idea got them, and shook and confused them till the right ideas came to look strange. We might trace it to the Supreme Court’sRoe v. Wadedecision in January 1973, but even that document grew out of prior ideas. It didn’t stand alone, and it cannot be combated alone. I’d like to explore three interlocking, mutually supporting bad ideas that sprouted during that era, and then look at some ideas about how to fix things.

The Feminist Bloom

It’s hard to pin down exactly when these bad ideas sprouted, but I can point to the moment when I first encountered them in bloom. At the time, I thought they were inspiring. I thought I had discovered liberation.

It was September 1970 and I was standing at the public information desk in the Student Union at the University of South Carolina. I was a brand-new freshman, pretty shy, and had been given the advice that I could meet people by joining organizations. So I joined the college paper, and was immediately given an assignment: “Find out what all this stuff is about women’s lib.”

I was baffled as to how to do that. Feminism had just begun impinging on public consciousness, usually in the form of a joke. It was called “women’s lib,” and wasn’t taken seriously, carrying no more weight than an offhand comment on Johnny Carson about “bra burners.” I didn’t know how to research the topic, but the editor had a suggestion: Go to the Student Union and page “anyone who knows about the women’s liberation movement.”

I can’t imagine what would happen if I went to that same desk and had them make the same announcement today. But 30 years ago I had a short wait, then saw two women coming toward me wearing the fortified expressions of pioneers. Kathy and Rosa steered me into the student lounge, where we sat for a long afternoon while they opened to me the hidden knowledge of women’s oppression through the ages. As they expounded this mystic wisdom, I made notes, and nodded. I liked what I was hearing.

I use the language of religious conversion intentionally; just as conversion to Christ confers an entirely new way of looking at life—the phronema of the Spirit—feminism offered me a new worldview in a form that was similar to a religion. I had rejected my childhood Christian faith, but feminism offered membership in a parallel enlightened community, one that had sacred writings and advanced leaders able to instruct neophytes in the vision. Initiates met in ritual gatherings—consciousness-raising groups—where we spoke in a vocabulary unique to insiders. We had distinctive clothing and grooming styles, analogous to religious habit and tonsure.

When my first campus byline appeared a week later, it was over a story that cautiously endorsed the “libbers.” I continued my catechesis under Kathy and Rosa, and eventually became a leader and teacher myself, a member of the inner circle and a guru of campus feminism.

Feminism 101

Feminism 101 - What I thought I knew, what I found out to be true.

This journey started quite a while back - in reality in started before I was born - feminism - and I was simply riding the 'wave' of what it wrought, never questioning the status quo.  Going along, not because I necessarily agreed, but because I did not take the time or effort to question how things were, why they were the way they are, or how they got there.

Some of the questions I have begun to ask myself:  Where did it come from?  What is its agenda?  Where is it taking us?  Or worse, where has it left us?

I have spent a bit of time researching, not as thoroughly as I'd like, but enough to warrant calling out to my fellow sisters:  WE ARE IN DANGER.  Especially those within the body of Christ of drinking down the poisonous potion of feminism.  It is permeating womanhood - true femininity - we need to recapture what has been lost.  We need to stand firm for being a biblical woman - to learn and grow and share.

I am frankly amazed at how many in the feminist camps have no qualms about stating their positions and beliefs without any fear of reprisal or upbraiding.  There is nothing in their demeanor or attitudes that makes them question, at all, that their agenda is correct, they are speaking for all of womankind (I don't think so) and they have the best interest of females at the forefront of their plans (yeah, right!).

Let's take the standard questions that are asked by a feministic society and/or people in an attempt to gather converts into their camp:

1.  Do you support equal pay for equal work?

2.  Do you think girls should be encouraged to study math and science?

3. Do you think that women should be able to play sports if they want?

4.  Should abortion be available to save women's lives?

Most people, even Christians would answer the first 3 in the affirmative.  Many 'religious' or 'moral' folks would balk at #4.  I am anti-death - choosing death for someone is rarely a choice any human needs to make for another, if ever.

If the feminists were honest in their questions, they would really ask:

1.  Do you think mothers who stay at home are betraying women's progress and hurting their children?

2.  Should standards be lowered so women can serve in physically demanding military jobs alongside men?

3.  If not enough women are playing sports, should men's teams be eliminated so athletes on campus are evenly split between the genders?

4.  Should abortion be permitted on the eve of delivery?  Or at any time that the mother finds being pregnant is not 'convenient?'

I did not come up with these questions on my own, they are borrowed from a book, "Women Who Make the World WORSE."  In addition, I have several websites I am browsing and will pull information from there as well.  I will, when borrowing from others, try to give credit where credit is due and to give links so that others may explore and learn, grow and share.

I will continue this thread by examining the questions I have asked at the beginning...baby steps...piece by piece...examining and sharing.

Lord, You alone are merciful and gracious.  You have set forth in Your Word how men and women should treat one another, the roles and responsibilities You have for them.  Father, do not allow us to be impacted by the culture, to be swept along with its wave as it crashes and fails on the banks of fallen humanity.  Lord, gives us the wisdom, discernment and thirst to open up Your Word, to read, to understand, comprehend and implement what You have given.  Not to squash us, but to protect and provide for us.  Help us as women to fully embrace biblical womanhood, to reclaim that which has been lost, trampled, destroyed, mocked and ridiculed.  Lord, strengthen our hands to the work of reclaiming truly feminine.
