22 ways to raise a home-wrecker

Courtesy of Kathy at Teaching Good Things who was doing a courtesy post at Raising Homemakers.  I encourage you to check out her site - she's got some good, old fashioned common sense mothering tidbits and advice.

Surefire ways to equip your daughter to be a future home-wrecker:
  • Be sure she knows that academics are her highest priority and that practical homemaking skills are menial and for the lower class folks.
  • Shield her from disappointment and hardships.
  • Give her her own room, her own space complete with ways to tune out the family, such as unlimited ipads, iphone, texting, computers…
  • Don’t allow her to earn or manage any money, just make sure she has plenty of it.
  • Never put her in situations where she has to get creative and resourceful, just give her what she wants…so she can have a happy childhood.
  • Do not correct her lack of character, because you may hurt her feelings…and she may not like you. Just let her be free to be herself.
  • Don’t ever require her to do acts of service for other people, unless she is getting extra credit for a school subject or club of course, because she may need that for a scholarship.
  • Push her to establish a career because she should never depend on a man for anything.
  • Be sure she chooses friends that are shallow and enjoy wasting time like she does.
  • Encourage her to focus on her outer beauty, keep her nails done and keep her clothed in the latest fashions, because that is very important to her self-esteem.
  • Let her believe her beauty and charm will keep a husband happy once she has snagged him.
  • Allow her to talk about her friends (gossip), better yet, you be sure to tear down your family and friends in front of her so she knows how to do it right.
  • As a parent you need to make sure your world revolves around her so that she will be sure to grow up and insist her husband’s world will also revolve around her and cave to her every whim.
  • Teach her to have a critical spirit, of everything and everyone.
  • Complain! Complain a lot so she will be a pro by the time she has her own home.
  • Nag your husband so she will never give her husband a moments peace.
  • Second guess and disrespect your husband, but be sure to justify it so it seems ‘righteous’, this is key to being a home-wrecker and sabotaging a marriage!
  • Allow your daughter to always have an opinion on everything, and to ALWAYS have the last word!
  • And this one is so VERY IMPORTANT- Teach her not to be content at home. Make sure that you have somewhere to go every day. It may be lessons, clubs, teams, shopping; anything that will keep her away from home.
but folly with her own hands tears it down.
Proverbs 14:1
We are told to train up children in the way they should go. Our goal is to train up wise women and it starts in their youth! They can enjoy their childhood and at the same time be learning how to set aside foolishness.
 EDIT AND CLARIFICATION:
This post was SATIRE, perhaps I should have stated that first.
It is a post that was directed at the heart of homemaking. As mothers are we fostering a heart of homemaking, giving our daughters what they need, not only in skill but a matter of priorities?
THIS IS NOT AN ANTI-EDUCATION POST! Education IS important, and I wholeheartedly believe that women should be contributing to the household financially, whether it be through income or stewardship. Although I do believe that this is done best from home and is keeping with Titus 2:5.
I’ve been a wife and mother long enough to know that most mothers do not train up their daughters in the way they should go. If your mother did great! If God gave you eyes to see in the midst of worldly teaching, great! But most are struggling and fostering selfish lifestyles in their daughters.
I used the “home-wrecker” term as SATIRE because it is a woman who does not have her heart at home that will destroy her own home…tear it down with her own hands, as Proverbs 14 says.
We live in a culture that is selfish and materialistic, a culture that does everything it can to destroy families and homes. If you want a lifelong marriage and a peaceful home then you have to be deliberate about it, it doesn’t just happen!

How Much Is a Homemaker Worth?

Sadly our culture deems the blessedness of being a stay at home wife.  Hopefully those who are blessed to be full time stay at home wives (and mothers) will be encouraged.  God has give us a calling...let us not be distressed by the mindset of a culture which is at odds and hates Him and His ways!

By MATT SMETHURST

The Story: A study conducted by the financial service company Investopedia found that the sum value of different homemaking duties annually amounts to almost six figures. If a homemaker's job were salaried, it would draw, on average, $96,291 per year. Tasks accounted for in the study included private chef, house cleaner, child care provider, driver, and laundry service provider.
The Background: There's no escaping the fact that contemporary society often scoffs at stay-at-home moms. "This isn't the 1950s anymore," the thinking goes. "Why in the world would someone want to be imprisoned in her own home?" The common idea, of course, is that many responsibilities on the home front should be outsourced, thus releasing moms from domestic shackles to realize their vocational dreams. While such a mindset isn't automatically wrongheaded in every case, it can frequently betray a prioritization that is biblically questionable.
Why It Matters: Proverbs 14:1 states: "The wise woman builds her house." While the monetary value and practical feasibility of full-time homemaking may vary from home to home, what remains constant is the irreplaceable significance of a homemaker's contributions. The Investopedia article concludes, "The daily work of a homemaker can sometimes be taken for granted....However, these services could earn a homemaker a considerable wage if he or she took those skills to the marketplace. Homemakers, in general, contribute a lot more to the home in addition to these tasks and no amount of money can fill those needs."
Indeed, no study could ever fully quantify the service of a mother who "looks well to the ways of her household" (Prov. 31:27). At the very least, this research should prompt us to express fresh appreciation to those stay-at-home moms whom we love and who, though receiving little recognition in the eyes of the world, are faithful and treasured in the eyes of their King.

Genesis - Help Meet

Notice, not helpmeet, but help # meet.  I know I have heard or read something about that before, but obviously did not soak enough of it in to help me remember when doing a search.

First usage of the phrase:

Gen 2:18  And the LORD God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him.

help - H5828 - from H5826; aid.
  • H5826 - A primitive root; to surround, that is, protect or aid.
Expanded: A masculine noun meaning a helper, one who helps; help, aid. It refers to aid or assistance that is given, whether material or immaterial (isa 30:5; Dan 11:34).  It is often help from the Lord who helps His people (Ps. 20:2[3]; 121:1, 2; 124:8).  He is called the shield or protection of Israel's help (Deut. 33:29). It indicates persons who give help: the woman created as Adam's complementary helper (Gen. 2:18, 20); the Lord as Israel's help (Hos. 13:9); the Lord as Israel's chief Helper (Ex. 18:4; Deut. 33:7; Ps. 3:20; 115:9-11). The name Eliezer means God (is) my helper (Ex. 18:4).

meet - H5048 - From H5046; a front, that is, part opposite; specifically a counterpart, or mate; usually (adverbially, especially with preposition) over against or before.
  • H5046 - A primitive root; properly to front, that is, stand boldly out opposite; by implication (causatively), to manifest; figuratively to announce (always by word of mouth to one present); specifically to expose, predict, explain, praise.
Expanded: A preposition indicating before, in front of, opposite; corresponding to. It has a special sense to indicate Eve's likeness to Adam (Gen. 2:18, 20), with the preposition ke prefixed.

Well, I have had an interesting journey trying to find something to share about help meet.  The most interesting thing that I came across, and is substantiated by my research, is the emphasis on - ‛êzer - ay'-zer - which is used more times of God than it is of Eve.

Which lends a richness to the understanding.  What a calling, to be not like God, but to lend that sense of help and assistance.

Day 342

(A) Book of 1 Timothy ~ cont.
3. Guidance for the young ministers ~ cont.
b. Work of a minister - 1 Timothy 5:1-25; 6:1-21

(B) Book of Titus
1. Selection of bishops and elders - Titus 1:1-16
2. Pattern for Christian living - Titus 2:1-15; 3:1-15

Widows - not to be taken into the church's provision unless they did not have children or nephews (thought that interesting, no nieces), over the age of 60 ~  had a reputation of good works ~ raised up children ~ lodged strangers ~  washed the feet of the saints (that would be any regenerate person - not someone 'specified' by the Roman Catholic Church) ~  relieved the afflicted ~  followed every good work.

Washed the saints feet - the other items are pretty self explanatory, but washing someones feet.  Some would contend that this was a practice done during that season of civilization which had dusty roads, people walked, wore sandals, etc.  Jesus did wash the apostles' feet (an act usually reserved for the lowest of slaves).

Hmmm....consulting better minds than I...Gill, Henry, Poole and a couple of others reference how washing the feet of guests in those hot countries to cleanse and/or cool them down would fulfill this requirement.  In addition, their commentaries expanded that concept to include that she was willing to do the most menial of tasks to bring comfort or relief to the saints.

Quite an outstanding list, I do not think I measure up very well, an excellent opportunity to evaluate whether I am availing myself of opportunities Father gives to bless the saints.  Not in order to 'check' something off a list.  For anything done without a spirit of love avails nothing.  No rewards, nothing, zero, zip, nada.  Whatever we do, it must be as unto the Lord.  I have failed miserably at this in so many areas of my life...**sigh**...Lord, forgive me.

But godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out. And having food and raiment let us be therewith content.  (1 Timothy 6:6-8)

The rich ~ fall into temptation ~ snare ~ foolish and hurtful lusts ~ love of money (root of evil, not the money).

Man of God to follow:  Righteousness ~ godliness ~ faith ~ love ~ patience ~ meekness.

I chuckled when I read this passage:  O Timothy (that O caught my attention for it implies, to me, a heart felt deep attachment), keep that which is committed to thy trust, avoiding profane and vain babblings, and oppositions of science falsely so called:  Which some professing have erred concerning the faith. Grace be thee. Amen. (1 Timothy 6:20-21)

I wonder if Timothy and Paul were having to contend with evolutionist type people?  'Science falsely so called' was the phrase which riveted my attention.  I had to chuckle over the commentaries as I compared my 'evolutionist' statement to what was written.  Those who think they have knowledge.  Those who claim that man, the world, everything that is known, came about from nothing, are like those who claim they have knowledge.

2Ti 3:5  Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.

Qualifications for a bishop ~ husband of one wife ~ faithful children ~ not riotous or unruly (or accused thereof) ~ blameless ~ self willed ~ not soon angry ~ not given to wine ~ no striker ~ not given to filthy lucre ~ hospitable ~ lover of good men ~ sober ~ just ~ holy ~ temperate ~ holds the Word fast to exhort and convince gainsayers.

Aged men - sober ~ grave ~ temperate ~ sound in faith ~ charity ~ patient.

Aged women - not false accusers ~ not given to much wine (or other pain numbing substances) ~ teachers of good things ~ teaching young women to be: sober ~ love their husbands ~ love their children ~ discreet ~ chaste ~ keepers at home ~ good ~ obedient to husbands (why? that the Word of God be not blasphemed).

Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ; who gave himself for us, that He might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto Himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.  (Titus 2:13-14)

Lord, help us Your Bride to be zealous of good works, to not be a by-word amongst the heathen.  Help Your people Lord to be set apart and holy unto You.  Not conformed to this world, but transformed by the renewing of our minds, that we may prove what is Your good and acceptable and perfect will.
